Mr. John Witherspoon <br />October 25, 1993 <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />d) <br /> <br />Pay Item 48 reimburses the Contractor for additional dewatering costs required <br />to meet modifications to the Phase II Grout Curtain and Excavation portions <br />of the project. Net increase of $3,441.48. <br /> <br />Pay Items 45 and 46 are a portion of the negotiated settlement of the $250,000 <br />claim filed by Blythe for alleged additional costs for the Phase I and II Grout <br />Curtain. The remainder of the settlement includes adjustment of some of the <br />original bid quantities to match those actually used in the work. <br /> <br />3. Change Order No. 8 adjusts the price of one pay item and adds four pay items to the <br /> Part B, NC 73 Relocation portion of the Contract. <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />The unit price for Pay Item 4 was decreased in exchange for allowing the <br />Contractor to utilize a borrow source for the NC 73 embankment fill that <br />required a reduced haul distance. Net decrease of $44,340.00. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />Pay Items 58 through 61 were added for miscellaneous work not originally <br />included as pay items in the original bid documents.
