AMENDMENT
Coddle Creek Reservoir-
October 22, 1993
Page 6

1.6.3.1.4.

cover of each, will be qualitatively assessed within the
transect corridor.

Wildlife observations will be made while the vegetation
monitoring is being done. A written record will be made
of mammal, bird, reptile and amphibian species which are
observed or for which calls, scat or tracks are confirmed.

Fish Monitoring. Changes in populations of mosquito-
eating fishes such as Gambusia affinis holbrooki, Fundulus
spp. and Notropis spp., will be monitored to evaluate the
success of biological pest control in this system. This
information will be included in Event Reports and Annual
Reports for each year, and copies of these monitoring
reports will be submitted to the Division of Environmental
Health (Pest Management Section) upon request.

Methodology - Fish populations will be assessed through
use of various standard collection techniques including dip
nets, seines, minnow traps, etc. The specific method(s)
chosen will be based upon a preliminary field review of
collection sites and expected species. In every case, the
same method(s) will be used for all species and for every
sampling event to reduce the variability between
populations and events.

Individuals of the various fish species will be collected and
preserved and returned to the office for identification to
species. Total numbers and weight of individuals will be
recorded, along with notations on field conditions and any
coincidental water quality data which may be available for
the day of collection.

Information on the populations of the fish species will be
included in the Event Reports and Annual Reports for each
of the 7 years of monitoring, and copies of these reports
will be provided to DEH Pest Management Section upon
request. If, based upon any event or annual report, it
becomes apparent that mosquito populations are not
adequately being controlled through these specific
