Page 3 <br /> <br />PROGRA SUI HARY <br /> <br />Statement of the Problem: <br /> The number of juveniles alleged to be delinquent and undisciplined referred to <br /> Juvenile Services continues to show a steady increase each year. In ~99]-92, there <br /> were ]8] delinquent and 79 undisciplined juveniles referred. In ]992-93, the number of <br /> referrals had increased to 218 delinquent and 96 undisciplined juveniles. More and more <br /> of the juveniles being refer~ed are for serious delinquent and undisciplined acts with <br /> placement in secure detention in the absence of effective alternatives. Those wh6 require <br /> secure detention must often be transported long distances to a center with an available <br /> vacancy. <br />Program Goal: (Purpose of the Program) <br /> The Alternatives To Detention Program will provide intense supervision and counseling <br /> to juveniles in order to reduce the need for placement in detention, training school <br /> and group care. <br /> <br />Target Population: <br /> The program will serve juveniles between the ages of seven (7) and seventeen (]7) <br /> who are referred for delinquent and undisciplined behavior and who are in need of <br /> intense supervision and counseling. The population served may include juveniles <br /> placed under house arrest by the Court; juveniles who are being supervised on <br /> probation; juveniles being supervised on protective supervision; and juveniles on <br /> conditional release from training school,-or who have been released from group care. <br /> <br />Measurable Objective(s): <br /> <br /> ]. Of the juveniles served, 60% will show a reduction in referrals to juvenile court. <br />2. Of the juveniles served, 60% will show a reduction in runaway behavior. <br /> 3. Of the juveniles served, 60% will show a reduction in school suppensions and <br /> expulsions. <br />4. Of the juveniles served, 60% will require no further placement in secure detention <br /> or training school. <br /> <br />Information Maintained for Effectiveness Measurement: <br /> Documentation of staff time involved in the program will be maintained. Client <br /> files will contain social history information, referral form, services plan and <br /> case dictation. CBA client tracking forms will be maintained and submitted as <br /> required to the CBA office. <br /> <br /> <br />
