Canaday, Sheriff <br /> <br />January 8, 1992 <br /> <br />Board of County Commissioners <br />Cabarrus County <br />Concord, NC <br /> <br /> The new North Carolina Jail Standards recommend that the <br />Sheriff request the Board of County Commissioners to adopt the Jail <br />Health Plan after the Health Director has approved the Plan. <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus County Health Director and the Director ~f the <br />Cabarrus Mental Health Center have reviewed the Plan and have <br />approved it. <br /> <br /> I would like for you to review the plan and adopt it if <br />possible. The plan was supposed to be in place by 1-1-92 but we <br />did not get the guidelines early enough to make that possible. I <br />do need your response on the adoption of the plan as soon as <br />possible. <br /> <br /> I will be reviewing the plan annually and updating it at other <br />times as needed to meet legislative and judicial guidelines. I <br />will be forwarding you copies of changes as they occur. <br /> <br /> In Section 4.03, Qualified Medical Personnel, we are <br />attempting to have 7 day a week coverage by Medical Personnel <br />(Registered Nurses). Presently we are having trouble meeting the <br />5 day a week coverage as stated in the Plan. This is a very high <br />liability risk area that we will have to deal with in the FY 93 <br />budget. I anticipate making some type request for in house medical <br />personnel we can depend on to be here as stated in the policy. <br />This will be coordinated through the Health Director. <br /> <br /> I appreciate your consideration of this matter and look <br />forward to your response. <br /> <br /> If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me <br />at any time. <br /> <br /> Robert M.
