A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT THE CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> ROAD NAME AND ADDRESS DISPLAY ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County's, %he City of Concord's, the City of <br />],[annapolis', the Town of Harrisburg's, and the Town of Mt. Pleasant's emergency <br />response agencies and Concord Telephone Company are working to provide a Sll <br />emergency sys%c,n whh Automatic Localion Indication (A.L.I.) capacity for the <br />benefit and protection of the citizens of Cabarrus County, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a comprehensive system of street and road addresses is a <br />fundamental component of an E-911 System wkh A.L.I. capacity, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Kannapolis, Town of Harrisburg, and Town of M~. <br />Pleasant have adopted resolutions au%horizin~ Cabarrus CouBty to _provide <br />add~'essh]g services, ~' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the targeted start-up da~e for the A.L.I. System is October <br />1,1992, <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Cabarrus County Board of <br />Commissioners: <br /> <br />Section ]. Purpose and Intent <br /> <br /> The put'pose and intent of this Ordinance is to provide a uniform system of <br />road add,'eases for ail properties and buildings lhroughout the County, and its <br />municipalities, ]n order to facilitate provision of adequate public safety and <br />emergency response services and tO minhn~ze difficully in ]ocathlg properties and <br />buildings for public service agencies and the general public. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br /> ^) <br /> <br />Definitions <br /> <br />The followfn% Words and phrases when used in this Ordinance shall <br />have the meanings respectively ascribed to them ]n this Section. <br /> <br />l) <br /> <br />BUILDING: A structure having a roof supported by columns or <br />walls for the shelter, support or enclosure of persons, animals, <br />chattels, or equipment. When separated by division walls from <br />the ground up without openings, each portion of such bufldin% <br />may be deemed a separate buildJn%. For the purposes of this <br />Ordinance, %he term "building" may also include other man-made <br />structures. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />DRIVEWAYS: A private way, beg-inning at %he property line of <br />a ]o% abuUing a public road, private road, easement, or private <br />right-of-way, giving access from that public road, recorded <br />easement, recorded private road or right-of-way, nnd leuding to <br />a building, use or structure on that lot. A driveway may not <br />serve more than a sing'lo lot un]ess it runs along a lot line <br />shared by two lots. <br /> <br /> <br />
