THE CABARRUS COUNTY <br />ROAD NAME AND ADDRESS DISPLAY ORDINANCE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cabarrus County's, the City of Concord's, the City of Kannapolis', <br />the Town of Harrisburg's, and the Town of Mt. P]easant's emergency response agencies <br />and Concord Telephone Company are working to provide a 911 emergency system with <br />Automatic Location Indication (A.L.I.) capacity for the benefit and protection of the <br />citizens of Cabarrus County, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a comprehensive system of street and road addresses is a fundamental <br />component of an E-911 System with A.L.I. capacity, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Kannapolis, Town of Harrisburg, and Town of Mt. <br />Pleasant have adopted resolutions authorizing Cabarrus County to provide addressing <br />services, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the targeted start-up date for the A.L.I. System is October 1,1992, <br /> <br /> NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDAINED BY THE Cabarrus <br />County Board of Commissioners: <br /> <br />Section 1. Purpose and Intent <br /> <br /> The purpose and intent of this Ordinance is to provide a unifom~ system of road <br />addresses for all properties and buildings throughout the County, and its municipalities, <br />in order to facilitate provision of adequate public safety and emergency response services <br />and to minimize difficulty in locating properties and buildings for public service agencies <br />and the general public. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br /> A) <br /> <br />Definitions <br /> <br />The following words and phrases when used in this Ordinance shall have <br />the meanings respectively ascribed to them in this Section. <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />BUILDING: A structure having a roof supported by columns or <br />walls for the shelter, support or enclosure of persons, animals, <br />chattels, or equipment. When separated by division walls from the <br />ground up without openings, each portion of such building may be <br />deemed a separate building. For the purposes of this Ordinance, the <br />tem~ "building" may also include other man-made structures. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />DRIVEWAYS: A private way, beginning at the property line of a <br />lot abutting a public road, private road, easement, or private right- <br />of-way, giving access from that public road, recorded easement, <br /> <br /> <br />
