Chapter 512 (H1017) amended municipal zoning enabling legislation <br />to clearly allow municipalities the authority to use stop-work <br />orders for zoning violation. <br /> Cabarrus County should support any related effort to <br /> clearly have this provision included in G.S. 153A. <br /> <br />G.S. 153A-343 requires that all affected property owners must <br />receive individual mailed notices of proposed zoning classification <br />actions. A number of counties and cities have received local <br />exemptions to this requirement. <br /> Cabarrus County is in the process of reviewing its zoning <br /> ordinance. 'When this is completed many zones will be <br /> altered and district boundaries will be changed. <br /> Therefore, Cabarrus County should also seek local <br /> legislation which would exempt the county government from <br /> this notification if we publish a half-page newspaper <br /> notice in the proposed rezonings once a week for four <br /> weeks. <br /> <br />24 <br /> <br /> <br />
