1.0 REQUEST FOR APPROVAL <br /> <br />1.1 GENERAL <br /> <br />Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 130A. Article 9, Cabarrus County <br />requests by submission of this document to the Department of Environment, <br />Health. and Natural Resources (NCDEHNR), Division of Solid Waste Management <br />(the "Department"). that in accordance with North Carolina General Statute <br />130A-294. the Department: (I) designate the Towns of Harrisburg and Mount <br />Pleasant. the City of Kannapolis. and all of the unincorporated areas of the <br />County as of the date of approval of this plan. as a geographic area within <br />which the collection, transportation, storage, and disposal of solid waste <br />generated within sa. id areas shall be accomplished in accordance with the Solid <br />Waste Management Plan: and. (2) authorize Cabarrus County to require by <br />ordinance that all solid waste generated within the designated geographic area <br />that is placed in the waste stream for disposal be collected, transported, <br />stored, and disposed of at a permitted solid waste management facility serving <br />such area. <br /> <br />Included as part of this Solid Waste Management Plan are resolutions adopted by <br />the governing bodies of the Towns of Harrisburg and Mount Pleasant. and the <br />City of Kannapolis requesting designation as a geographic area under General <br />Statute 130A, Article 9, as well as interlocal agreements between Cabarrus <br />County and each of these municipalities agreeing to comply with this Solid <br />Waste Management Plan and abiding by the County's solid waste ordinance. <br /> <br />1278-1 I.!/2 <br /> <br />1-1 <br /> <br /> <br />
