2.4 LANDFILLING <br /> <br />Cabarrus County presently operates a permitted sanitary landfill in the <br />nort/~-centra~ portion of the County off of Irish Potato Road. The facility is <br />being developed as a multi-use facility allowing residents and commercial <br />entities to drop-off recyclables and dispose of solid waste. The County has <br />submitted plans to the North Carolina Solid Waste Section in the hope of <br />permitting a piece of land on the existing landfill property as an area for <br />demolition and yard waste disposal and handling. The County is planning to <br />purchase a tub grinder (or like piece of equipment) for the purpose of grinding <br />yard and wood wastes for sale as mulch. <br /> <br />All requirements of state and federal regulations are being followed at the <br />facility to promote public health and safety. <br /> <br />1278-11.I/3 <br /> <br />2-3 <br /> <br /> <br />
