~i~herspoon
Page 2
October 9, 1992

step towards making water service a future possibility for the
Georgeville Community. The total cost of this project is projected
to be $460,000. It is recommended that the funding for this
project be allocated from the $1,000,000 in earmarked capital
projects funds in the County's general fund budget.

MUDDY CREEK WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

This proposed project would provide funding for the permitting and
design processes needed to build a wastewater treatment plant.
Upon completion of the initial permitting and design stages, the
project would be to the point that construction bids could be let.
The permits, once in place, have a life of five years, during which
the County could decide on actual construction. There are some
possibilities being discussed with Stanly County to buy capacity or
fund partial construction of this plant to provide sewage disposal
and treatment for Locust and Oakboro. The total cost for the
design and construction of this sewer plant is projected to be
$2,400,000. At this time, it is only requested that the design and
permitting stages be financed. It is recommended that the costs
for the permitting and design stages, $200,000, be allocated from
the $1,000,000 set aside in the general fund for capital projects.
