Properly Shredded Garbage shall mean the wastes from the <br />preparation, cooking and dispensing of food that have been <br />shredded to such degree that all particles will be carried freely <br />under the flow conditions normally prevailing in public sewers, <br />with no particle greater than one-half inch in any dimension. <br /> <br /> Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW) shall mean a treatment <br />works as defined by Section 212 of the Act, (33 U.S.C. 1292) which <br />is owned in this instance by the Authority. This definition <br />includes any sewers that convey wastewater to the POTW treatment <br />plant, but does not include pipes, sewers or other conveyances not <br />connected to a facility providing treatment. For the purposes of <br />this ordinance, "POTW" shall also include any sewers that convey <br />wastewaters to the POTW from persons outside the Authority who are, <br />by contract or agreement with the Authority, users of the <br />Authority's POTW. The POTW will hereafter be referred to as the <br />wastewater treatment plant. <br /> <br /> Receiving Stream shall mean a body of water, stream or <br />watercourse receiving or formed by the discharge of waters from <br />the wastewater treatment plant. <br /> <br /> Sanitary Sewer shall mean a sewer intended to receive domestic <br />sewage and industrial waste, except that of type expressly <br />prohibited by this ordinance, without the admixture of surface <br />water and stormwater. <br /> <br /> Septage or septic tank sludge shall mean the liquid and/or <br />solids from septic tanks which contain no wastewater other than <br />domestic. <br /> <br />-- Significant Industrial User shall mean a facility which <br /> discharges nondomestic wastewater into a publicly owned treatment <br /> works and which: (1) Has an average daily process wastewater flow <br />_ twenty five thousand (25,000) gallons per day or more; or (2) <br /> contributes more than five (5) percent of any design capacity of <br /> the wastewater treatment plant receiving the discharge; or (3) is <br /> required to meet a national categorical pretreatment standard; or <br />-- (4) is determined by the control authority to have a potential to <br /> adversely impact the wastewater treatment plant or receiving <br /> stream, or to limit the wastewater treatment plant's sludge <br />-- disposal options. <br /> <br /> Significant Noncompliance shall mean a status of noncompliance <br />equivalent to reportable noncompliance as defined in 15A NCAC .0903 <br />(b)(10). <br /> <br />7 <br /> <br /> <br />
