Ruffin, County Manager Gentlemen: subject: Alton Run Outfall0 Pump Station & Force Main Final Approval The Alton Run Project is in operation. Three items remain to be done and we will withhold a sufficient amount from the final payment to cover them. These ifems are pavement repair on 1-85, resurfacing on N.C. 73 and seeding and mulching repair work along the outfall. operational portion of the project was compl.eted within the time limit and the Cabarrus County Utility Department and I are well pleased with the work of the Contractor, Ramey, Inc. of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The actual contract cost for the project is $918,729.53. This is $69,028.53 over the original bid price of $849,701.00. The major items listed below amounted to extras totalling $73,739.30; other items came in under the estimated quantities to balance this out. 1. Additional sewer lines totalling 1394.53' were installed to serve property on Trinity Church Road at a cost of $36,499.30. 2. Solid rock was encountered in crossing under Crisco Road and i-85. This required the construction of 112' more tunnel than was anticipated. This additional tunnel cost $25,984.00. 3. NCDOT required an additional 29' of 30" casing pipe under I-8S at a cost of $4,872.00. I 4. The 30" bore under N.C. 73 was extended 38' to satisfy NCDOT requirements and to protect the 30" raw water line beside the hivhway at an additional cost of $6,384.00. I We request that you approve change Order No. i for $69,028.53 covering the variations between the Actual Contract Cost and the Estimated Base Bid and authorize the final payment I to the Contractor, based on the following conditions. 3
