Hartgen asked Mr2 Marshall ±f this area is part of <br /> the area that is proposed for annexation by Kannapolis <br /> and if so, what power would Kannapolis have on the <br /> proper~y. <br /> <br /> Mr. ~4arshall stated it is not in the large area <br /> Kannapolis proposes for annexation, he does not believe <br /> it is in any areas for consideration, if it were, <br /> Kannapolis at this point would have no powers other than <br /> advisory. But he does not believe it is under <br /> consideration for annexation right now. <br /> <br /> Mr. Marshall what portion of that <br /> Mr. <br /> Shultz <br /> asked <br /> property is in the floodplain? <br /> <br /> Mr. Marshall stated it is probably greater than 10 <br /> percent. <br /> <br />Chairman Randall opened the public meeting on Petition 91-05 asking <br />if anyone would like to speak for or against this petition. <br /> <br /> Mr. Odell Stamey, Property Owner, addressed the <br /> Commission presenting them with a signed petition.'Mr. <br /> Stamey stated he has no opposition from the 'adjoining <br /> property owners nor any others in the area. Mr. Stamey <br /> stated ~he company plans on making a snbstantial <br /> investment in the area which wfll include investing over <br /> a million dollars in a new 30,000 square feet facility, <br /> bring water and sewer and natural gas to the ar~a, curb <br /> and gutter all the streets inside the area, and build <br /> roads for future development which will cut the tax base. <br /> The company i~ now in a grandfathered location which has <br /> been rezoned to commercial. Mr. Stamey asked the <br /> Commission to consider rezoning his property to I-1. <br /> <br />Chairman Randall closed the public meeting on Petition 91-05 asking <br />if there are any comments or questions from the Commission. <br /> <br /> MS. Sarbee asked Mr. Stamey what kind of business is he <br /> planning on moving into that area? <br /> <br /> Mr. S~amey said for 20 years they have been manufacturing <br /> hair care products on South Main Street behind E1 Toros <br /> beside Winn-Dixie on the corner block between Rogers Lake <br /> Road and Universal Street. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hartgen asked Mr. Stam'ey he had talked to the two <br /> if <br /> property, owners in the middle and if their names are on <br /> the petition. <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
