Board of Commissioners, Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br />LAW Proposal No. O13MiC <br />April 1, 1991 <br />(Revised April 19, 1991) <br />-3- <br /> <br />Piles <br /> <br /> - Review the proposed pile driving formula for steel piles. <br /> <br /> - Inspect each steel pile before driving to verify that it generally meets <br /> the requirements outlined in the specifications. <br /> <br /> - Witness the driving operation e~d record a log for each steel pile as it <br /> is being driven. <br /> <br /> - Select the pile tip elevation as based on penetration rates of the pile <br /> during driving and by using the criteria established by the <br /> specifications. <br /> <br /> - Assist with set-up and monitor auger pile load tests. <br /> <br /> - Continuously monitor installatlo~ of the mini-augercast piles. <br /> <br />Concrete <br /> <br /> - Perform concrete mix verification on proposed mix designs in accordance <br /> with the project specifications and/or review concrete mix designs <br /> proposed for use by the concrete supplier. <br /> <br /> - Conduct inspection of the concrete batch plant at the start of operations <br /> and periodic inspections thereafter. <br /> <br /> - Inspect sub~ades prior to placement of concrete. <br /> <br /> - Check size and placement of reinforcing steel and dowels. <br /> <br /> - Check formwork before placement of concrete. <br /> <br /> - Visually check the concrete in each truck as it arrives on-site for <br /> p~oper slump and observe general placement procedures. <br /> <br /> - Sample and test plastic concrete includinE slump tests, air content, <br /> (unit weight of lightweight concrete) and other tests required by the <br /> specifications. <br /> <br /> - Mold and cure 6 by 12 inch concrete cylinder test specimens for <br /> compressive strength testing at the frequency specified in Section 03350, <br /> part 3.01. <br /> <br /> - Return test specimens to our laboratory within 2~ hours after casting. <br /> <br /> - Perform laboratory curing, compressive strength testing, and reporting of <br /> results for the concrete cylinder test specimens (copies of concrete <br /> reports sent to concrete supplier at client's request). <br /> <br /> LAW ENGINEERINC <br /> <br /> <br />
