Cabarrus County Senior Center <br /> Disruptive Behavior Policy <br /> <br />In order to provide senior adults with continued pleasant, enriching and <br />healthful activities, the center's staff shall take the following steps in <br />preventing repeated disruption by individual participants: ' <br /> <br />When a participant's behavior disrupts activities or programs of the center or <br />when a participant is verbally abusive to other participants or staff, that <br />behavior will be reported to the Senior Center Coordinator. <br /> <br />The Senior Center Coordinator will arrange to counsel with the participant. A <br />confidential file will be maintained on the incident(s) of disruptive <br />behavior. In addition to steps taken by the coordinator to curtain the <br />disruptive behavior will also be documented. <br /> <br />After oral warnings are given to the participant by the duly authorizedstaff <br />he/she will report the participant to the Senior Center Director. The <br />Director will in torn present the situation to the Council on Aging Advisory <br />Board, The Cabarrus County Advisory Board will schedule a joint conference <br />with the disruptive participant. This same procedure will apply to those <br />participants who are verbally abusive to the staff. <br /> <br />In the joint conference the disruptive participant will be informed of his/her <br />disruptive behavior and how it impacts negatively on other participants and/or <br />staff, They will then be informed that such behavior is not tolerated in the <br />center. The Cabarrus County Advisory Board will then inform the disruptive <br />participants that he/she cannot attend the center's activities or programs for <br />thirty (30) days. <br /> <br />Return is at the discretion of the Cabarrus County Aging Advisory Board. <br /> <br />Appeal: If the participant feels that the permanent exclusion is unfair, <br />he/she may submit a written grievance to the Advisory Board. The Advisory <br />Board will then schedule a joint bearing with the participant and the staff. <br />At this time the participant will present his appeal and the staff will <br />present their reasons for exclusion. The Board's decision regarding the <br />exclusion shall be final. <br /> <br /> I <br /> <br /> <br />
