Cabarros County Senior Center <br /> Consignment Shop Policy and Procedures <br /> <br />The Consignment Shop is a program of Cabarrus County Senior Center. The <br />program is designed to provide for the display and sale of handicraft item <br />made by older adults as a vehicle to demonstrate the talents and abilities of <br />this age group while encouraging meaningful activity. Additionally, the <br />program provides a means by which participants can earn some extra income. <br /> <br />Individuals participating in the Consignment Shop program must be Cabarrus <br />County residents aged 60 or older. Participants shall prefent items to office <br />for product description and sale price of item. Cabarrus County Department of <br />Aging shall increase the price by 30% to offset cost of implementing this <br />service. <br /> <br />All goods displayed for sale must be made by the participating senior adult. <br />Plea market and yard sale items will not be accepted, nor will craft items <br />purchased from another individual. The Senior Center may choose to sell other <br />non-craft items such as books, tee shirts, or snacks as approved by the <br />County. <br /> <br />Live items such as plants and perishable food stuffs will not be accepted for <br />display or sale except during special events or promotions. <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Senior Center Staff is responsible for determining the <br />appropriateness of items to be accepted for sale. The Center reserves the <br />right to reject items for display and sale based on these guidelines. <br /> <br />Each participant is responsible for setting the sale price of items accepted <br />for display. Senior Center Staff will be available to make suggestions based <br />on other sales, but the decision regarding price will he that of the <br />participant. <br /> <br />Items accepted for sale will be tagged with an identification code for the <br />participant, the sale price, and a description of the item. An inventory on <br />each participant's items will be maintained by the office. <br /> <br />Persons purchasing items from the Consignment Shop will pay sales tax in <br />addition to the marked ticket price. All sales sro final. There will be no <br />exchanges or refunds. The marked ticket price will be forwarded to the <br />participant along with any other sales receipts st the end of the month. <br /> <br />Participants are limited to making changes in their inventories once per <br />month, by the 15th of the month.
