Barbee, Property Owner, spoke in opposition to <br /> this rezoning stating that neither Highway 73 or Trinity <br /> Road have been upgraded to have the traffic that is on it <br /> now. Mr. Barbee said he believes it is stated in the <br /> outline for rez0ning to I~l that "in no case will <br /> industrial be located in such a manner as to penetrate a <br /> residential neighborhood with industrial or commercial <br /> traffic". He also stated he is not against progress in <br /> any kind of way, but the time is not now. He feels in <br /> the best interest of the community to del~y this rezoning <br /> in order to allow further improvements on roads and <br /> highways to ensure safety for the school children as well <br /> as other neighbors and communities in the area. <br /> <br /> Mr. David Austin, Petitioner, stated to the Board that <br /> this is the highest and best use for this property and he <br /> does not think it will be a problem with the industrial <br /> park being located in that area. <br /> <br /> Mr. Roy Moore, Property Owner, addressed the Board in <br /> opposition stating he is concerned with the water run- <br /> off from the property. <br /> <br /> Ms. Patsy Williams, Property Owner, addressed the Board <br /> in she feels this will be to <br /> opposition <br /> stating <br /> a <br /> danger <br /> the children in that area. <br /> <br /> Ms. Doris Barbee stated as a Board Member, Mr. Barbee <br /> that just addressed the Board ss her husbands brother, <br /> and she would like for everyone to be aware of that. Ms. <br /> Barbee also stated that there is a terrible traffic <br /> problem on Highway 73 and until Highway 73 is upgraded to <br /> a four lane highway she does not see how it can <br /> accommodate any more businesses. <br /> <br /> Mr. Cannon addressed the traffic question, stating to <br /> keep in mind that ~-40 is the current zoning. If this <br /> property was full of houses, what would that do the <br /> traffic situation. Giwen the time frame that is most <br /> likely to attract the industry for buildings to be built, <br /> it will probably at least be a l0 year period for this <br /> industrial park to be developed. <br /> <br />Chairman Randall closed the public hearing on Petition 91-08. <br /> <br /> Mr. Amos asked Mr. Marshall in the total plan would I-1 <br /> normally be adjacent to R-§0? <br /> <br /> Mr. Marshall stated no, you w~uld not normally haws that <br /> typo of transition. But th~s area has recently been <br /> <br /> <br />
