!
!
mPlanning and Zoning Commission Minutes
September 19, 1991 Paqe 19

Iand secure a driveway permit and bring it back to the
staff and we will allow them to expand without closing
the driveway if DOT says so. 2. We are requesting that
ithese driveways be located 400 feet apart if DOT would
approve it and at a lesser we would go with the approval.

Mr. Newton ~tated they should also look at that with the
understanding, if that situation ca~e up under the
current ordinance one of those two driveways would have
to be closed down. Where as now, we are asking DOT for
Itheir approval.

Chairperson Randall stated she thinks the intent of this.
ordinance was to make a major highway driveable. She
stated she does have a concern about minimizing and
making this more lenient, but at the same time she
I u
nderstand that sometimes that two driveways are better
than one. She stated she has mixed feelings about it.

Mr. Shultz asked why would we allow access onto a
I t
horoughfare when there is a commuter road where you can
have direct excess.

Mr. Newton stated at times it is appropriatetQ have your
access coming off the major road, if it is before your
signalized intersection or your controlled intersection.
In certain instances, it allows the traffic to avoid that
intersection and it can turn into the business and not be
subjected to the signalization. It is when it is after
the intersection that causes the problem.

There being no further comments, Mr. Hurlocker MOTIONED,
seconded by Mr. Olio-Mills to approve the reguest as
I p
resented. The vote was 7 to 2, Chairperson Randall and
Mr. Shultz dissenting.

Chairperson Randall introduced the fifth item on the Agenda, Final
mPlat Approval:

5. Applicant: M & F Properties
Request: Final Plat Approval

This was a request to the Cabarrus County Planning and
iZoning Commission from M & F Properties to have their
subdivision Rimer Estates approved final.

Mr. Marshall, Staff Member, presented the subdivision
Ireview to the Board and recommended its approval.

I
