The Compacl is designaled as the p]arming liaison ~ith local govcnfing bodies <br />I in region, Councils (COGs), Melropolitan Phnning Organlzafions <br /> Government <br /> (I~lPOs),~ Departments of TrdP. sporlafion (DOTs), and stale govemmenls. The Compact <br /> shall have the powers and duties clescfibed in this Agreement subjecl to such other powe5 <br />I and duties being sin,ilar with the established authority under this and further <br /> not inconsistenl wilh thh provision ofth/s Agreement. <br /> <br /> I 3.20 <br /> Each County shall have two (2) representatives appointed by the Board or Counc/I. <br /> iAhhough not a party to this agreement, the North Carolina Board of Transpo~tion and <br /> tire South Carolina Highway Commission shall each be requested lo appoint one (l) <br /> representative. <br /> I 3.30 <br /> <br /> IMembershi~ of xhe Compact shall be established under the following conditiom: <br /> <br /> 3.31 Ttr~$ of office of Compact representatives shall be determiued by the <br /> I appointing Governing BeVy, but any term shall continue until a successor is <br /> appointed. <br /> <br /> I 3.3].1 The Governing Bodies may make individual provisions fo~ <br /> terms permitted for their rtspe~ive appo/ntive position. <br /> <br /> I 3.31.2 Although each couety has two representatives who are <br /> appointed by the Board of Council of the respective county, <br /> only one tepresen~ti',,e should represent any governmental body <br /> <br /> i 'with/n the county. <br /> 3.31.3 All representatives to the Compact shall be elected officials <br /> from the coun,y which they represent, other than those <br /> I ~presentafives from uhe high~y ~,,thorities. <br /> <br /> 3.32 Members of the Cgrnpact shall be residents of the County which they <br /> Irepresent and b'ill be subject to ~he follo~'ing conditions: <br /> <br /> 3.32.1 A member who ceases to bt a resident of his couuty shall cease <br /> I to be a member of the Compact. <br /> 3.32.2 Membe~ sha]! serve with compensation, if any, as determined <br /> I by the appointing Governing Bodies. <br /> 3.32.3 The members representing the highway au[ho~hies sha]! <br /> represent ~ ~eg~on covered by ~e Compact. <br /> <br /> 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
