Your financial assistance this year has enabled us to plan a
"Cabarrus Day for the Arts" at Carolina Mall on March 24. There,
we will showcase the many performing and visual arts
organizations that are affiliate members of our Council. We hope
to place the arts in the public's awareness through such
performances. In addition, each F~iday of April there will be a
Concert-on-the-Lawn, alternating lunchtime performances between
the Historic Cabarrus Courthouse and the bandshell in Kannapolis.
These concerts are a free offering of the arts to the public.
With the cooperation of Downtown Redevelopment, we hope to draw
additional folks downtown at the lunch hour and entertain them.

The Arts Council will again direct the Silver Arts Live!
performance of our 55 and older citizens in conjunction with the
Senior Games. Planning for this event will require many hours on
the part of our director--Time well-spent for the benefit of our
many senior citizens who have so much to offer. Cabarrus County
is.quickly becoming a place to draw retirees, some of whom are
already involved with Council activities. A juried exhibit will
also be held at Carolina Mall of Silver Arts participants on a
visual level.

Whether our involvements are ooncerts or in-school programming,
the support we receive from our government is vital to future
planning and growth in the arts. We would appreciate a plaoe on
the agenda of your next meeting to place a formal request to meet
our future needs. The deadline for application of Local
Government Challenge Grant funding with the N.C. Arts Council is
once again April i. We hope to show your continued support in
applying for state funds.

Your time and consideration of our request is greatly
appreciated.

Sincerely,

Christine s. Cole
Interim Executive Director
