IIAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT COMMISSION <br /> <br /> SECTION .0100 - GENERAL INFORh'IATION <br /> <br /> .0101 PURPOSE <br /> Tlie puq~ose of this Chapter is to provide procedures for the 'N.C. Hazardous Waste Management <br /> Commission t0 site, design, finance, construct, operate, 6versee, acquire, hold, sdl, lease, or convey <br /> needed hazardous waste facililies to the extent that priyate enterprise fails to provide such facilities, in <br /> accordance with G.S. 130B and 10 NCAC 10F. <br /> It is the purpose of the Commission to provide the citizens of North Carol.ina with an opportumty <br /> to participate in decisions concerning the state's management of liazardous waste. The Commission <br /> supporls active parlicipation of tlie public in thc decision-making process by encouraging conunents <br /> and suggestions from all citizims. It is tlie Commission's goal to provide a forum for study and input <br /> wlfich will enable citizens to become knowledgeable about ffre establishment of hazardous waste facil- <br /> ities in Noah Carolina, <br /> The Commission strongly supports tlie waste minimization efforts of the businesses and industries of <br /> Noah Carolina. The Corrmdssion believes thht sucli efforts should be expanded wherever possible. <br /> However, the Commission ts antliorized only to review and consider current and projected waste <br /> mininfizarion efforts in making its reconunandatioos to the Governor and the General Assembly. The <br /> Cormnisslon encourages addilional support for tho waste minimization ,'md waste reduction programs <br /> of Ilie Pollution Prevention I)ays office, tlie Department of Enviromnent, Healtli, and Natural Re- <br /> sources, and lite Govei'nor's Wasle Management Bo'kd, and all other state agencies a~d departmcms <br /> authorized to direct activities in tiffs regard. <br /> <br /> Ilistory Note: Filed as a Temporary Role Elf.
