Each first responder agency and its first r~sponder members shall <br /> aL all tlmes comply with the requirements of these guidelines, the <br /> cerLlflcation granted hereunder) and all applicable state and <br /> local laws relating to health, sanitation, safety and all other <br /> laws and ordinances, including the N.C. Motor Vehicle laws when <br /> [ts members are responding to an emergency scene. <br /> <br /> 2. To be certified and maintain certification, a first responder <br /> individual must: <br /> <br /> A. Be of suitable character) not addicted to the use or abuse <br /> of drugs or alcohol. <br /> B. Be at least sixteen (16) years of age. Age of the first <br /> responder is at the dlscretios of the first responder agency <br /> with [6 being the minimum. <br /> C. Have a valid N.C. drlver's license and a good driving as <br /> determined by the Chief or his designee. <br /> D. Be required to show evidence of successful completion of a <br /> basic first responder training course of at least ~0 hours as <br /> described in Section 12 of this document. <br /> The final written and practical exam mus~ be passed with a <br /> score of 7OZ. <br /> E. Be required to show evidence of contlautu§ education of at <br /> least ~2 hours ~er year in emergency medical service related <br /> <br /> F. Current certification iu Cardiopulmouafy ~esuscitation by <br /> the American ged Cross or the American I{eart Association. <br /> <br /> G. Kecertlfication: Be re~ulred to show evidence 'of attendance <br /> and successful completion of specified continuing education <br /> courses (including annual CPK certification) approved by the <br /> Cabarrus County Office of Emergency S~rvices and successfully <br /> pass a skills test. Kecertlficatlon to be every two'(2) <br /> years. <br /> [[. Gal~el'lnes for acceptable continuing edncatioe includes <br /> a~ea in Section [2 of this ordinance, plus trainie~ in use of <br /> self-contained breathing apparatus.
