Provide a mini-Session for classroom teachers on the PSAT/SAT. Along with a handout similar to this one, give <br /> parems strategies for assisting their child in improving overall achievement as well as <br /> PSAT/SAT SCores. Use this time to address course selections, additional reading, <br /> VOCabulary enrichment, the school's SAT Improvement Plan and answer questions <br /> regarding cun-/culum issues. <br /> <br /> Study the current curr/culum plan in al/subject areas beginning with English. In addition <br /> to following the Standard Course of Study, include those strategies required to do well <br /> on the PSAT/SAT in lesson plans. Teacher-made tests are to reflect thc level of critical <br /> thinking measured by the PSAT/SAT. <br /> <br /> The SAT Review Course has received positive evaluations from students. The course <br /> will be provid6d at each high school. A minimum registration fee.will be charged. <br /> Schedule the'classes to meet no more than twice per week to give students better <br /> opportunity to retain the skills being *aught. If possible, one night per week is deemed <br /> the best possible Scheduling. <br /> <br /> Expanded Strategies <br /> Expanded Strategies are those that wili require proactive planning on the part 0fthe entire school system. <br />The committee prefers the term "expanded" instead of "long-range" because of the need not only to begin <br />.now but also to continue to expand this program for SAT/PSAT improvement as well as for total curr/culum <br />lmprov.ement. ,,Expanded,, is to connote that there is an ongoing cun'iculum process of ever-increasing <br />proportions to which thi s Committee will direct its energies.
