Also,
due to an increasing number of l:tst minute cancellations or no-shows at meal functions, the Board of
Directors has implemented a new policy concerning "no-shows" :md last minute cancellations for meal
functions. Requests received after that time will be band-
led as soon as possible.

NEW MEAL CANCELI.JkTION AND REFUND POLICY
In the past few years, the Association has lost an increasing amouot of revenues due to last-minute can-
cellations and nozshows al conference meal functions. This creates problems at seated dinners and buf-
fets since we must give a final meal count to the hotel or convention center at least two dltys itl advance
of the event. Once we have given a count, we must pay for that number of meals, even if much fewer
people show up.

Having reviewed the increase in this problem, the Board of Directors voted last October to implement a
change in the Association's refund policy for meal functions. The Board did not take any action that
would affect conference registration fees; tile policy only affects meal function tickets. The new policy
is as follows:
Registrants for Association conferences who do not attend a meal fitnction that they previottsly had
paid for may not receive a reft~nd of that meal cost, unless they notify the Association office itt writ-
ing or by telephone at least three days (36 hottrs) prior to the beginning of the Conference. Fami-
ly illnesses attd emergencies will be taken into consideration.
If you have any questions about this policy, call Debra Holley at the Association office at (919) 832-
2893.
