A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE MONTIt OF APRIL <br /> AS POULTRY MONTH IN CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Honorable James G. Martin, GOVernor of the State of North <br /> Carolina, has proclaimed April, 1990 as "North Carolina Poultry Month," <br /> and urges citizens to recognize the importance of our poultry food <br /> industry in our state; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, North Carolina's poultry industry represents a major agricultural industry <br /> in our state, exceed ng one billion dollars in cash receipts for farm <br /> families. The pOultry industry employs thousands of our citizens and <br /> contributes significantly to the income of0ur farm workers. NutritioUs <br /> food is supplied to North Carolina families and others around the world; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina is the most diversified poultry producing state in the <br /> nation, ranking first in turkey production, second in duckling production, <br /> fourth in commercial broiler production, and eighth in egg production; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, 'Concord Farms, Inc., with headquarters in Cabarrus County, has <br /> economic impact itl Cabarrus County and five other North Carolina <br /> COunties by contragtlng with fifty farmers and employing some four <br /> hundred North Carolinians. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, I, James W~ Lentz, Chairman of the Cabarras County Board <br />of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim the month of April, 1990 as POULTRY MONTH <br />IN CABARRUS COUN'I~ to coincide with the celebration of North Carolina Poultry <br />Month, and,encourage all citizens to recognize the importance of the poultry food <br />industry in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> This the 16th day of April, 1990, <br /> <br /> James W.
