Housing <br /> <br /> The Aging Task Force Housing Subcommittee identified housing needs of <br /> the elderly in the county. The following recommendations are made: <br /> <br /> 1. Establishment of a Housing Coalition <br /> <br /> The subcommittee recommends that a coalition on housing be <br /> established by September 1990 with membership drawn from, but not <br /> limited to, the Board of County Commissioners, the Alderman of the <br /> City of Concord, municipalities in Cabarrus County, religious <br /> organizations, Cabarrus Chamber of Commerce~ and local developers <br /> to study creative solutions to the housing needs of senior adults. <br /> <br /> 2. Diversity in Housing Alternatives <br /> <br /> The subcommittee recommends that housing alternatives be developed <br /> which addresses the wellness and financial continuums which are <br /> significant factors in elderly housing. <br /> <br /> A. The subcommittee recommends that we continue to seek additional <br /> funds to provide housing to our low income, elderly population. <br /> <br /> B. The subcommittee also recommends that a retirement community <br /> which encourages aging in place from the well to frail continuum <br /> bu constructed in the county to attract the affluent elderly as <br /> well as the needs of. our affluent elderly. The Pines in <br /> Davidson and Sharon Towers in ChArlotte were example models <br /> cited. <br /> <br />~ C. The subcommittee recommends that a committee be established to <br />~ network with the Planning and Zoning Board of Cabarrus County to <br />~ investigate current zoning statutes particularly changes <br /> <br /> <br />
