Pa~e 9 <br /> <br /> 12) A need exists for transportation services beyond th~ normal 8 to 5 <br /> service provisions. <br /> <br /> 13} There needs to be more opportunities for older adult employment. <br /> <br /> 14) There needs to be more training available for family eare§ivers. <br /> Group trainings are net the answer as many caregivers require <br /> sitters for their loved ones in order to attend. <br /> <br /> 15) Affordable emergency communication systems. <br /> <br /> 16) Increased training opportunities and coordination-ordination with <br /> the religious community. <br /> <br /> SUM~tMRY/CONCLUSIONS <br /> <br />The Cabarrus County Agency Task Force recognizes the challenge of the nineties <br />as it relates to needs of elderly at the national, state and local levels. <br />The Task Force has succinctly summarized the priorities and issues which <br />appear to be most profound in our conununity. The recommendations to provide <br />an enhanced quality of life for our elderly deterring and/or eliminating <br />unwanted institutionalization. <br /> <br />This document represents the tangible needs which exist; it reinforces "what <br />we thought"; it is the springboard to move forward. We are therefore <br />recommending that the Board additionally consider the Task Force as an ongoing <br />committee; to be appointed by you to better serve Cabarrus County's people, <br />We recommend that this committee be under the umbrella of the Cabarrus County <br />Council on Aging Advisory Board. <br /> <br />This committee will ultimately serve by offering accountability mechanisms for <br />private and public agencies, measuring and evaluating all services in Cabarrus <br />County as we strive toward a healthy, happy, useful and productive senior <br />population. <br /> <br /> <br />
