Little, Director <br /> Cabarrus County Parka and Recreation Department <br /> <br /> Subjectz Recommended Heater Plan Consultant Firm for Cabarrus County <br /> Parks and Recreation Department <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County has recognized the need to develop a comprehensive <br /> Haster Park and Recreation Plan to assess the current status of Cabarrus <br /> County Parks and Recreation and to develop an action plan to meet the <br /> future needs of the citizens as it relates to recreational programs, <br /> parks and recreation facilities, and open space areas in the county. <br /> Funding for such a study vas requested by the Cabarrus County Parks <br /> and Recreation Department and approved by the Cabarrus County Board <br /> of Commiss£oners in the funding level of $27,000.00 <br /> <br /> The master planning process will be coordinated with the contracted <br /> consultant fir~ by the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Director <br /> with assistance f~om the Cabarrus County Flanning Director. The Cabarrus <br /> County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission viii be the primary <br /> entity responsible for plan development and viii recommend approval <br /> of such plan to the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. The general <br /> public viii be involved in the planning process in the preparation of <br /> the Heater Plan including a public survey and at least two public forums <br /> in which citizen participation wiII be actively solicited. The Cabarrus <br /> County Board of Commissioners and the County Hanager will be involved <br /> in the plan approval and implementatlon. The proposed process will <br /> take approximately eight to nine months to complete. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department sent request <br /> proposals to thirty-two consultant firms ia North Carolina. Seven <br /> consultant firms returned vrltten formal proposals for the Cabarrua <br /> County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission to review. With <br /> assistance from tha Planning Director, Department Staff, and the Cabarrus <br /> County Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission's Planning and Finance <br /> Cmittee three finalists were selected to be interviewed by the Advisory <br /> Commission on August 23rd. The three finalists were Cardner Cidley <br /> and Associates, Edward D. Stone, Jr. and Associates, and ~oolpert <br /> Consultants, <br /> <br /> <br />
