No me~ber of or delegate to the Congress for the United States of A~erica, resident commissioner or employee of the United States Government, shall be entitled to any share or part of this contract or any benefits to arise herefrom. 16. Equal Employment Opportunity. (a) The Center shall not discriminate against any employee applicant for employment or subcbntractor because of race, color, handicap, religion, age, sex or national orlBin. The Center shall take affirmative action to insure that applicants are employed and subcontractors (subcontractors must be mutually approved) are selected, and that employees are treated equally during employment, ~ichouc regard to their race, color, handicap, religion, abe, sag or national origin, Such action shall include, but not be limited to the following: employment, upgrading, demotions or transfers; recruitment recruitment advertising; layoffs or terminations; rates of pay or other forms of compensation; selection for training including apprenticeship; and participation in recreational and educational activities. The Center certifies that it presently has in effect such an affiramtive action program. The Center agrees to post in a conspicious place available to employees and applicants for employment, notices setting forth the provisions of this non- discrimination clause. The Center shall in all solicitations or advertisements for subcontractors or employees placed ~y or on behalf of the Cerrer sr~t~ that the Center is an "Equal Opportunity Employer". (b) The Center shall keep such records and subait such reports concerning characteristics of applicants for employment and employees as the Council and the North Carolina Oivison of Aging require. (c) The Center agrees to comply ~ith such guidelines as the Purchaser or the North Carolina Division of tgi~g may issue to implement the require;ants of this paragraph. (d) The Center agrees to co~pl), ~ith Title VI and Title ¥II of the Civil Rights Act and Section 506 of the Rehabilitation Act. 15. Inde;nity and Insurance. The Center agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Purchaser, its agents and employees ~rom and against any and ail loss~ cost; da=ages, expense and liability caused by the failure of the Center to £ully perform its obligations under this agreement and in accord ~ith its ter~s; or by an accident or other occurrence causing bodily injury, including death~ sickness and disease to any person; or damage or destruction to property, real or personal, ~hich any arise fro~ operations, products or services rendered under this contract. 1Sa.
