Box 1149 <br /> Concord, North Carolina 28026-1149 <br /> <br /> COHTRACT <br /> <br /> Coastal Emergency Services of Asheville, Inc. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County Health Department <br /> <br /> This agreement ts made and entered into this 1st day of N~vember <br />19 90 by and between Coastal Emergency Services of Asheville, Inc. <br />hereinafter referred to as the Provider, and Cabarrus County <br /> <br /> Health Department , hereinafter referred to as the Agency. <br /> <br /> WITNE S SETH : <br /> <br /> %~ereas, the Agency has identified a need for medical consultation at <br />the Cabarrus Couuty Jail; <br /> <br /> ~%ereas, it is to the Agency's interest, the community's benefit, and <br />the enhancement of prisoners incarcerated in the Cabarrus County Jail to <br />provide medical consultation services as herein specified; and, <br /> <br /> ~erees, Coastal Emergency Services of Asheville, Inc. <br /> <br />is prepared to assume the responsibility for providing medical consultation <br />services; now therefore, <br /> <br /> IT IS AGKEED BETWEEN TIiE AGEIiCY~ Coastal Emergency Services <br /> <br /> of Asheville~ Inc. as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. It is understood and acknowledged by the parties that Coastal <br />Emergency Services of Asheville, Inc. (Provider) recruits and schedules <br />physicians to staff the Emergency Department at cabarrus Memorial Hospital; <br />these physicians are not employees of the Provider and the Provider is mot <br />engaged in the practice of medicine. However, the Provider does pay the <br />professional fees to the physicians for services rendered at Cabarrus <br />Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. <br /> <br /> 2. The parties understamd and acknowledge tha~ the County's <br />objectives and entering into this agreement are to protect the h~alth and <br />welfare of prisoners incarcerated in the Cabarrus Coumty Jail, to avoid the <br /> <br /> <br />
