At the time of Jail admission all prisoners ~ill be screened for <br /> health problems utilizing the receiving/screening form reco~euded By the <br /> American Hedical Association and the North Carolina Hedical Society. ~ere <br /> possible this screening viii be done by Jailers who have completed training <br /> in first aid and CPR. If appropriate and indicated by the screening~ <br /> referrals vii1 be made to area physicians. <br /> <br /> 4. Daily screening clinics or sick call yell be conducted by a Health <br /> Department nurse, who will be a part-time employee of the Health Department <br /> whose sole responsibility will be Jail health screenings. ~his nurse will <br /> refer problems reqnirii§ physician examination or treatment to qualified <br /> local physicians. <br /> <br /> 5. The Jail will have Jailers on duty on a continuing 24-hour basis <br />who are trained in first aid and CPR to conduct routine health screenings <br />of prisoners and to respond to prisoner health complaints of an urgent <br /> <br /> 6. Coastal-supplied physicians on duty in the Emergency Department of <br />Cabarrus Nemorial Nospital will provide 2e-hour backup to the Jail for <br />telephon~ consultation and the ordering of routine prescriptions. <br /> <br /> 7. The Jailers and the Health Depart=eat nurse yell refer all cases <br />requiring emergency treatment to the Emergency Department at Cabarrus <br />Hemorial Hospital, where they yell be seen by Coastal-supplied physicians <br />on duty in the Emergency Department. <br /> <br /> 8. The Sheriff's Department will be responsible for transporting <br />prisoners to and from the Emergency Department when needed and for ensuring <br />the safety of the Emergency Department physicians and other Emergency <br />Department patients while prisoners are being treated in the Emergency <br />Department. <br /> <br /> 9. The Coastal-supplied physicians on duty in the Cabarrus Memorial <br />Hospital will keep a log of telephone calls received from the Jail. This <br />log yell record prescriptions and/or advice supplied by the physician on <br />duty. This log will remain in the Hospital's Emergency Department. <br /> <br /> 10. Cabarrus County viii pay Coastal Six Hundred ~,'enty-four and <br />no/100's Dollars (~624.00) each month in consideration for the consultation <br />service provided by Coastal-supplied physicians. Coastal viii be <br />responsible for paying the physicians. This fee will not include services <br />rendered to prisoners in the Emergency Department, which services shall be <br />separately invoiced. <br /> <br /> 11, This agreement shall cover the period November 1 , 19 90 . <br />to October 31 19 91 · <br /> <br /> 12. This agreement ~ay be terminated at any time for any reason by <br />eithe~ party by the giving of sixty (60) days written notice of intention <br />to the other party. <br /> <br /> <br />
