Little, Director <br /> Cabatru~ County Pa~k~ end Recreation Oep~rtmeRt <br /> <br />bate: March 13, lgSg <br /> <br /> A joint effort by volunteers, representatives of Cabarrua and Rowan <br />Cou'nttea, City of Kannapolls, Clean and Beautiful Committee from <br />Kennapolls, Csbarrua and Rowan Counties has been launched to clean up <br />Bakers Creek. A good deal of the cleanup in the creek will require heavy <br />equipment which will be coordinated by Cabarrus end Rowan Counties and <br />City of Kannapolis. Volunteers can be utilized to remove from the creek <br />= variety of debris, trash, limbs, tires, bottles, bricks, etc. <br />Volunleers can also' assist in providing beautification projects <br />throughout the Park, s'uch aa planting flowers, mulching areas, planting <br />scr~lbs and trees, and general landscaping. Donations of materials and <br />supplies will be gladly welcomed. <br /> <br /> The date for the Cleanup has been selected for Saturdsy~ April la1=. <br />10:00 a.m. ~ntil 3:00 p.m, The raindata has been set for Saturday, April <br />~ lhe Committee hen recommended that volunteers wear protective gloves, <br />clothes, and weatherproof boots. Hip-wader boots are requested for any <br />vo'lunteer who can assist in the project. For safety concerns, the <br />Committee recommended that f~fteen years and older would be the minimum <br />age requirement for performing tasks in the creek area. Volunteers who <br />are under fifteen years of age may assist in other areas of the Park by <br />landscaping, planting, and performing general cleanup. The Committee has <br />requested volunteers who can lo loan for the day the following items: <br />plastic five-gallon buckets, ropes, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and <br />ladders. Please mark your name on your 1Dais 1or clear identification. <br /> <br /> The response by volunteers, agencies, end organizations to provide <br />assistance toward this project has been tremendous! Local food service <br />establishments In the area have volunteered to provide lunch for all of <br />the volunteers who assist ~n the cleanup effort. For the preparation of <br />meals, please contact our office to inform us of the number of volunteers <br />willing to assist at this project.
