A RESOI~TION ENDORSING THE PROPOSED <br /> ALIGNMENTS OF THE KANLACON WEST-SIDE BY-PASS <br /> <br /> UllEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the County of Gabarrus is aware <br /> of the increasing urbanization of Cabarrus County and its <br /> municipalities; and the impaot on existing transportation <br /> facilities; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said Board endorses the construction of the West-Side By-Pass <br /> as scheduled in the North Carolina Transportation Improvement <br /> Program; and <br /> <br /> WEEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Transportation has established <br /> feasible alignments for the proposed Kanlacon West-Side <br /> By-Pass. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of <br />Cabarrus County. by this Resolution, informs the North Carolina <br />Department of Transportation that feasible alignments for the northern <br />leg of the proposed Kanlacon West-Side By-Pass, shown as Alternate 1 and <br />Alternate 2 on the Department of Transportation Project Map U~2009, are <br />fully acceptable to the Board of Commissioners. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of tom. missioners of Cabarrus <br />County encourages the North Carolina Department of Transportation to <br />consider a fifth alternate route for the northern leg of the proposed <br />Kanlacon West-Side By-Pass which would allow for the planned development <br />of the Dogwood Subdivision subject to the following conditions. <br /> <br /> (1) Said consideration of an alternate route to accommodate tile <br /> Dogwood Subdivision would cause ne significant delay in <br /> planning for and/or actual construction of the West-Side <br /> By-Pass. <br /> <br /> (2) The northern terminus of any fifth alternate route shall be the <br /> same as the northern terminus for Alternates 1 and 2. <br /> <br /> (3) The West-Side By-Pass will remain a FIRST PRIORITY project for <br /> North Carolina as currently planned. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus <br />County will continue to cooperate with the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation in anyway possible to establish an alignment and preserve <br />the corridor established for the West-Side By-Pass. <br /> <br /> Adopted this the 20th day of March, 1989. <br /> <br /> James W.
