5.6-18 Permit Required: It is unlewfu'l for any person to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, or relocate a sign within Cabarrus County or to install or alter any electrical wiring thereon without having first obtained e permit from the Zoning Official, A schedule of fees for sign permits in the appendix. Signs e~empt from permitting requirements appear in Section 5.6-3. 5.6-19 Inspection: Every sign erected in Cabarrus County shall be subject to the inspection of the Zoning Official to assure compliance with the provisions of this ordinance. Signage with electrical wiring is to be inspected and approved prior to connection to the power source. 5.6-20 Illeqal Signs: Any sign erected in violation of the provisions of this ordinance is an illegal sign and shall be removed. 5.6-21 Removal of I I leqal Siqns and/Abandoned Siqes: The Zoning Official is hereby authorized to remove Ilagel and abandoned signs. Prior to removal, the Zoning Official must give written notice to either thc owner of the sign or the owne[ of the property upon which it is located. Such notice shall contain the following: -The reason for removai, specifying the deficiencies in tho sign with reasonable definiteness. -What repairs, if any, would make the sign conform to this ordinance. -The notice period within which the sign must be corrected. Notice period is as follows: I. ten (10) days for permanent signs. 2. forty-eight (48) hours for temporary signs. if the owner of the sign or lessee of the property upon which the sign is located does not correct the deficiency with the notice period, the Zoning Official shall remove the sign. 5.6-22 Emerqency Removal' The Zoning Official s hereby authorize¢ to cause the immediate removal of any sign found to be unsafe or defective to the extent it creetee a ~azerd to persons or property, j
