The enthusiastic response to the transportation <br /> proposal and the opportunity to tour Mecklenburg's newest incinerator and the <br /> recycling center led to a full day of activities. <br /> <br /> I. Carolinas Transportation Compact <br /> <br /> A. Thank you to Peggy Upchurch who chaired the Transportation <br /> Task Force and to the commitment by the members of the <br /> Cormaittee. Th~s effort has mapped the future regional <br /> efforts to address the transportation needs in a <br /> coordinated, comprehensive and proactive manner. Also, <br /> many thanks to the excellent staff support from Dr. Bill <br /> McCoy, Dr. David Hartgen, Cheryl Roberts and other staff of <br /> the Urban Institute. <br /> <br /> B. Please share the enclosed report from the Transportation <br /> Task Force with your Board/Council as soon as possible. As <br /> we discussed last week, we want each Couaty to determine <br /> their local commitment to this effort before October 30. <br /> <br /> The Executive Committee of the Transportation Task Force <br /> and Bill McCoy have agreed to be available to make <br /> presentations and answer questions at your Board meetings. <br /> Please contact Bill at~704/547-2307 if you are interested <br /> in this. . . <br /> <br /> 1.
