Sign was pIaeed in front of Bill Rlee,s Nohil BOme{~y ? Cabarrus Co.~ Nike Byrd says the sqdare rod on the sign is '~lke Cabarrus Co. uses. And is Quay Road in Mecklenburg Co. and Old Holland in'Cabarrus Co. The entrance to the road is in Meek. Co. ~he name here is Quay rd~ and is so designated on the new signs put up by Neck. Co~ at the beginning of road ~- This mmkes the East end of the road~ from Union school/Mallard Creek to remain on new signs- Quay Rd. for about ~OD it.to Cabarrus C. line. 'At this point it changes to (Old ~olland Rd.). This is the same road. On the West end~ at OdelI SchooI Road~ it again starts in Meek. Co. and goes anprox.~OO ft to Cabarrus Co~ this is still QuayRd.to the County line. and again changes to Old Holland Rd. ?_ EAST ~IDE a{ the end of the road at I 8g the road ends~ howeverthere is a road turning off to the left side which goes out of Cab. Co, into Meek. Co.~his road is also Quay Road~ name designated by Meek. Co. With mail boxes at the end of Old Holland Rd. 'now). The addresses are Quay Rd. EXA],~LE Mr Keath 1016~ Quay Rd.! thes~ boxes are on 01d Kolland Rd. I have been to the Cabarrus Planning Board with Van J. Akins several times or more about this conflict. And was told to get up a petitiom~ which we did with ~3 signatures, and delivered it to Mr. Phlllip Kingsland and Mike Byrd. This was August 31 st. 1989. 8~ Later Phillip Kingsland told us "Also Mike Dyrd" he had looked through the books back to 1970 and the road name had not been changed. He also stated that there was no record of Cabarrus County putting up the Old Holland Rd signs.(Aceording to this the road name has never been chanzed). Nike Byrd said he would see the other people on the other QUAY RD. at Harrisburg~ to see if they would consider their road name be changed from Quay Rd. to somethung else. REJECTED. 9- Mr. Akin~ and myself had also been told by Mr. ~ingsland and Byrd that Meek. Co. would change their ends of the road signs, but it would cost Cabarrus C$. ~100.00 each~ total $200.00 and that Cabarrus eD. would not pay for this, so I ~uess Neck. Co. decided to put up new signs, k~ich was in the last fe~ months} and are now in place now with BLOCK NUMBERS on Q~ay Road si~ns~ Quay East starts there EAST 9600 block and WEST ~. ~ ~ Road Pn the 10- Mike Byrd and l~self went to see Mr. Scarboro (Radio Dispatcher Supervisor) for Cabsrrus Sheriffs Office.We tall(ed and'I asked to make the road East Quay Rd. and West Quay Rd. and Mr. Scarboro said this maynot be enough to get a elear address call in on an ~ emergency. That in an ~mergency (E~eitement) the East nr West may be left out. 11- The biggest reason we have~ as people who live on this road is (A) You enter on Quay Rd.~approximately ~00 ft. down this road it changes to Old Holland at the county line. There is no houses on Quay Rd. to the County .line. Most people looking for 01d Holland R. cannot tell that the road name changes several hundred feet from the Quay Rd. entrance at union School/Mallard Creek R.
