Report to Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners
Page - 3 -

The Division of Forest Resources, through the County Ranger's
office, continues to work with the Agricultural Stabilization
Conservation Service, Agricultural Extension Service, and the Soil
Conservation Service to promote the Conservation Reserve Program
and all other agricultural p~ograms available to Cabarrus County
residents. We include information in forest management plans
about applicable programs and special events sponsored or
administered through all the other agencies.

TRAINING

A district meeting at District 12 Headquarters in Mount Holly was
held to discuss and review proper tree planting practices and the
handling of seedlings to insure high survival on planted tracts.
We are responsible for technical information and quality control
of tree planting and site preparation involving state or federal
cost-sharing funds. County residents who purchase seedlings are
provided information about correct planting techniques when the
seedlings are received at the County Ranger's office.

FIRE CONTROL AND PREVENTION

Fourteen fires, involving approximately seven acres, were
reported. A program on fire prevention was presented to a fourth-
grade class at Jackson Park School.

Your support of the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources in
Cabarrus County is greatly appreciated.
