4. The Harrisburg Rescue Squad has expressed their willingnnss to service
the area in the northerly direction to Carolando Estates, southerly direction
to tbe proposed Midland area, easterly to the Cabarrus County sub-station
projected lines, and in a westerly direction to the Mecklenburg County lines
without assistance from Cabarrus County Emergency Services if they are
provided the opportunity for advanced study. Since the rescue squad has
been in operation for nearly twenty years, their volunteer personnel and
equipment are outstanding. Presently the county commissioners fund $10,000
to the operation. By performing service in the designated area, tile effec-
tiveness of the sub-station service would be enhanced by a better response
time to a smaller area.

At ~be present time, there is no county training officer. It is
recom~aended that one be hired and Harrisburg personnel offered training.
Ben Mabrey ]las indicated that this will be done.

5. No recommendatio~%s were made concerning the Odell Community beyond
agreeing that the need exists for establishing a provision to offer that
area comparable service. See attached copy compiled by Ben }Iabrey for
projected costs to tho county.

6. That a utilization review committee be formed--possibly including an
ER physician, ER Supervisor, and others--to look at statistics, credentials,
and accreditations.

Respectfully submitted,

Martha H.
