RISK CONTROL SERVICES

RI~K CONTROL RE:(A~HE6IDATIOt~S

GENERAL SUGGESTIONS

1. Individuals, companies, or corporations performing or providing
services as a subcontractor should be required to provide a
Certificate of Insurance to cover the time that their services are
being rendered to the County. Types of coverages that Certificates
are required for would be: Workers' Compensation, Automobile
Liability, and General Liability.

2. All double doors on public buildings should be kept unlocked, free,
and unobstructed during hours of eccupancy by employees and the
public. This is to maintain a clear means of egress in the event
of an emergency requiring an evacuation.

GENERAL VEHICLE SUGGESTION

All County employees who are operating their personal vehicles for
County business should show proof that their vehicles have the
minimum liability coverage required by the State of North Carolina.

COURTHOUSE

1. Remove the chains from the panic hardware on the doors of the left
front stairwell. This is to maintain adequate means of egress in
the event of an emergency.

2. The fire doors in the stairwells were chocked open with wooden
wedges. This practice should be discontinued due to their needing
to be c)osed for life safety purposes,

3. The closures on the fire doors in the stairwells were broken.
These need to be repaired so that they will automatically close as
people enter and exit these protected stairwells.

~$A FSJ--132?-A
