...........................................................

May 31, 1988

James W. Lentz, Chairman
Cabarrus County Commissioners
P. O. Box 707
Concord, North Carolina 28025

Dear Mr. Lentz:

Meeting in official session on May 26. 1988, the Cabarrus
County Board of Health voted unanimously to recommend roll-out
carts for all residential customers of franchised solid waste
companies in Cabarrus County. The carts would be provided at
no cost to the customers. The franchised solid waste
companies have also agreed not to request a rate hike this
year if this proposal is approved.

In order to implement this recommendation, the Board of
Commissioners would be required to amend the Cabarrus County
Solid Waste Ordinance as follows:

l. Section VIII, Parts B and C deleted.
2. Section VIII, Part D becomes Part C.
3. New Section VIII. Part B:

Garbage shall be secured in approved refuse roll-out
containers provided by the franchised haulers at no
charge to the residential customers. These containers
must be rolled out to the roadside on days designated
by the franchised haulers.

Sincerely,

~illlam F. Pilkington
Health Director

WP:ft
