PAGE 2 <br /> <br />The response to the question concerning adult proqramming was very <br />good. Patrons indicated an interest in attending a variety of programs, <br />including movies {comedies, classics, musicals, documentaries, foreign <br />films), armchair travel programs, and informational programs such as <br />how to fill out income tax forms, genealogy, and effective parenting. <br /> <br />A copy of the survey form with the numbers of people responding in <br />each category is attached. <br /> <br /> LAUBACH TUTORS WORKSHOP <br /> <br />The latest Laubach tutors workshop was held at the library on January <br />9 and 10, sponsored by the library and the Cabarrus Literacy Associa- <br />tion. Twenty new tutors were added to the network, giving the <br />tutoring program over forty certified tutors, many of whom use the <br />library for their tutoring sessions. <br /> <br /> QUIZ BOWL ~NIA <br /> <br />As a member of the State Quiz Bowl Committee, Norman Clark, Reference <br />Librarian, has been travelling across North Carolina as an authority <br />for local and district Quiz Bowl competitions. In addition, Beth <br />Young, Branch Librarian, serve~ as judge for the Cabarrus County <br />quiz Bowl held in Concord on February 4. Sponsored yearly, the quiz <br />Bowl is one of the more ambitious projects sponsored by the State <br />Library. Although state-wide in scope and culminating in televised <br />finals from Raleigh, the logistics of organizing such a competition <br />depend almost entirely upon volunteers from public libraries across <br />the State. The next match for Norman is the District Quiz Bowl on <br />March 7 in Clinton where he will serve as Quiz Bowl Authority. He <br />will then serve as scorekeeper at the State Finals in Raleigh on <br />April 11. <br /> <br /> NEWS BRIEFS FROM THE ADULT SERVICES SECTION <br /> <br />The long-awaited Value Line is now available. <br /> <br />In addition to the State job listings, the library also has Federal <br />job listings. <br /> <br />For the 200th anniversary of the Constitution, we have added several <br />new books on the Constitution to our collection. <br /> <br />Our videocassette collection has now grown to 181 videocassettes <br />with the addition of 44 new ones in the past few weeks. <br /> <br />The library now has a supply of State tax forms, as well as the <br />Federal tax forms and various books to help in filing income taxes <br />for 1986. <br /> <br /> <br />
