Monaghan, Executive Director <br /> Post Office Box 35008 <br /> Charlotte, North Caroltna 28235/Courier ~518A <br /> <br /> Dear Mr. Monaghan: <br /> <br /> The State Goals and Policy Board and the North Carolina Education Council are <br /> seeking publtc input and recommendations on the following issues: capital needs <br /> of public schools, transportation, water and sewer systems, parks and prisons; <br /> the impact of the Gra~-Rudman-Hollings Act on public education (handicapped, <br /> disadvantaged, and vocational educatfcn programs); expansicn of the scholarship <br /> loan program for teachers; raising the entry-level salary for teachers; <br /> instituting a supplemental, salary incentive programs for teachers; funding <br /> tuition grants for teachers who are currently employed to allow them to become <br /> certified in other areas; and establishing an office to promote teaching as a <br /> career. <br /> <br /> The Board and the Council wil) be holding public forums to hear conurents from <br /> concerned citizens and organizations.
