Jordan, III April 16, 1986 ' Gerry Hancock <br />Chairman Director <br /> <br /> ~M'qlqOUNCEMENT Ol~ PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br /> From now through the end of 1989, the people of North <br /> Carolina will commemorate the two hundredth anniversary of the signing <br /> and ratification of the United States Constitution. <br /> <br /> To coordinate the bicentennial activities, the General <br /> Assembly established the North Carolina Commission on the Bicentennial <br /> of the United States Constitution, including members appointed by the <br /> ~overnor, the Lt. Governor and the Speaker of the House of <br /> Representatives. Lt. Governor Bob Jordan serves as Chairman of the <br /> Commission by statute. <br /> <br /> As it begins its work, tha Commission would like to hear <br /> from persons or organizations who have recommendations concerning <br /> possible projects or other activities which would be appropriate <br /> during the bicentennial commemoration. The Commission has scheduled <br /> the following four public hearings for that purpose, and all citizens <br /> are cordially invited to attend: <br /> <br /> Asheville May 14 Old Biltmore School Building 391 Hendersonville Rd. <br /> <br /> Greenville May 20 East Carolina University Willis Building <br /> 1st and Reed Streets <br /> <br /> Raleigh May 21 N.C. Museum of History Auditorium <br /> 109 E. Jones St. <br /> <br /> Charlotte May 28 Downtown Charlotte Branch, <br /> Mecklenburg County Public Library <br /> 310 N. Tryon St. <br /> <br /> All hearings will be from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. If you can not <br /> attend one of these hearings, or if your comments at the hearing would <br /> exceed five minutes, the Commission will be pleased to accept comraents <br /> in writing and make them a part of the hearing record. <br /> <br /> <br />
