PROJECT NARPJ~TIVE <br /> <br /> The value of Bakers Creek Park with its diverse natural and active recreation <br /> areas accessible to the public and within minutes of a major population area <br /> is unmistakeable, Its importance today as a public resourse will be <br /> multiplied many times for future generations. Attachment 3, a need <br /> assessment study for public recreation facilities within the Southern Rowan <br /> and Northern Cabarrus Counties expresses the gross need for passive and <br /> active recreation development. With this project, the need for tennis courts, <br /> play lots, picnic areas and facilities, and trail development would be linked <br /> in providing an equitable distribution of recreation areas and facilities <br /> in Cabarrus and Ro~van Counties. <br /> <br /> The Master Plan for Bakers Creek Park consists of constructing four tennis <br /> courts, a one-mile walking/jogging trail system, two play lots, additional <br /> parking spaces, additional picnic shelter and sites, and paving the existing <br /> roadway system and parking lots. <br /> <br /> The budget estimated for the proposed projects are as follows: <br /> <br /> Facility Budget Estimate <br /> <br /> 1. 4 Lighted Tennis Courts $ 60,000 <br /> 2.
