I
· . cQ Cabarrus County
Department of Parks and Recreation

P.O. Box 707 Concord, N.C. 28025 Phone 704-78&-7411

Steve L. Little - Director
January 17, 1985

To: Cabarrus Board of Commissioners, County Manager

From: Steve L. Little, Director
Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Department

Subject: Recommendation For Bid Award of Lighting Fixtures,
Lamps and Poles on Various School and Park Sites

In September, 1984, the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Advisory
Commission approved an Incentive Grant request submitted by the following:
(1) proposed Lighting-Fencinq of Bethel Softball/Baseball Field; (2) the
proposed Lighti~-~of Northwest C~barrus High School Fiel~ and (3) the
proposed Lightinq 9f Harrisbur~ Baseball/Softball ~ield. A detail synopsis
of the funding ratios Of these projects is attached. ~11 of these projects
are funded on a minimum of a 50~ matching basis.

Even though the County was not funding the total cost of all of these
projects, it was determined that all the projects could possibly be funded
at a reduced cost if they were consolidated into one bid. Moreover, it
was determined that funds could possibly be saved if the major equipn~nt,
i.e. poles and fixtures, were purchased by the County through direct bids
to suppliers of this equipnent. This is a co~on practice among many
cities and counties throughout Uorth and South Carolina.
