Surveyed cross sections on Roeky River will probably be needed
about every 2 to 3 miles along the stream and will need to extend
Far ecou~h into the flood plain to be l0 to 15 feet hi~her than the
riverbank. River surveys will be needed fro~ the mouth at the
Yadkin River to the confluence with Dutch Buffalo Creek.

Re would like to do this work durinE February and Harsh 1985.
l/e will not cut trees or chtatarb fences or crops. We may need to
drive amall tru0ks hauling survey equipment along the edges of
Fields, and we may need to shrub some I/mba or under~owth. We hope
you will publicize the need to do this work and ~tve u~ assurance
that it is all right for u~ to do this work. If you learn of areas
where we should not go~ please let us know the location and
name so that we may avoid those areas. Other~ise, we hope we will
be Free to obtain the stream and flood plain cross sections as
planned. If any landowners ask us to leave their land, of course we
will. However, we hope that your knowledge of the area and the
landowners will help us avoid these problems.

Thank you for helping us in this phase of our work. Please
write us as soon as you have reasonable assurance that it will be
all right to proceed.

Lawrence W. Saunders
Chief, Plan Formulation Branch
