~£MORANDUM
County Managers
Page 2
January 29, 1985

Besides managing our FY '85 programs, we have begun planning for FY '86 and beyond:
The North Carolina Division of Aging has provided us with an Area Plan format and
instruetions for developing a five year plan for "comprehensive and coordinated services
for older adults". This is truly an ambitious goal. We are trying to develop a plan
that 1) accurately describes the current service delivery system, 2) provides for Title
Ill services to be funded so es not to duplicate but to coordinate with existing
services, and 3) proposes other programs and activities that will strengthen the service
delivery system for older adults. '"~ub-plans" for each county will be developed.

During January and February, I plan to meet with service prOviderS and advisory
committee members in each county to obtain input for. the Plan. During February and
March, we will be requesting proposals for services and working with the Region F
Aging Advisory Committee to develop a reeomrnendation to the COG Board on ageneies
and services to be funded in 1985-86. The amount of Title III funding for FY '86 will
be the same es the original allocation for FY '85.

We intend to keep County Managers informed throughout this process by providing you
with copies of any draft plans and by providing you with a list of applicants and
amounts of funding requests prior to developing any recommendations on fund
allocations. Please feel free to contact me at any time regarding the planning or
funds allocation process.

KB/pwb

Attachments

ce: Service Providers
Region F Aging Advisory Committee
