Box 27687 <br />Ralelgh,.Nodh Carolina 27611 <br />(919) 733-5013 Begin below and add as many continuation pages as <br /> necessary. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County will provide emergency residential services to juveniles involved <br /> with the court as delinquents or status offenders or those diverted from the court <br /> for these offenses. Statistics indicate status offenders are not coming ~o court <br /> and delinquency petitions have decreased this year. This, in part, is due to the <br /> temporary shelter care being available to a child at intake and referrals ate <br /> accepted from all county agencies and the court. <br /> <br /> # of Delinquent # of Status Offense <br /> Year Petitions Petitions <br /> <br /> 1982 70 1S <br /> 1983 89 - 5 <br /> 1984 82 9 <br /> <br /> There is no detention facility and jail lock-ups were used. Training school <br /> commitments declined over the last few years. 1981 - 11; 1982 - 11} 1983 - 5;' <br /> 1984 - 6. <br /> <br /> There are three foster homes licensed for teenagers in Cabarrus County and maximum <br /> number is six (6) beds. Severe behavior problems are not accepted in these homes. <br /> There are no private or public residential facilities in the county. ~ithout the <br /> program provided by the Temporary Shelter Care, more children will be in unsupervised <br /> environments and juvenile offenses will increase. <br /> <br /> <br />
