Hox 707 <br /> Concord, North Carolina 28025 <br /> <br /> Dear Chairman Lentz: <br /> <br /> Today, Secretary Rhodes will announce 1985 Community Development Block Grant <br /> awards for community revitalization projects. Unfortunately, the application <br /> submitted by Cabarrus County did not generate a sufficient score to be funded. <br /> <br /> The requests we received for community revitallza~lon funds totaled $10§ <br />million or over three times the amount of dollars available and competition for <br />the grants was extremely intense. We recognize that each application represents a <br />serious community need and it is very unfortuante that the state's CDBG funds are <br />insufficient to finance all proposed community improvements. <br /> <br /> We regret that the limited CDBG alloeation will not allow us to fund Cabarrus <br /> County's project.
