Sheriff <br /> <br /> Most public contact is in facilities not controlled by eoanty. <br /> <br /> The jail and records area is accessible. <br /> <br /> Telephone for the deaf service in the communication center. <br /> <br />Recreation <br /> <br /> All public programs are offered ia faeillties that are accessible. <br /> <br /> Special programs for physically impaired are offered throughout the year based on <br /> demand.' <br /> <br />Planning <br /> <br /> Public contact is in the Courthouse which is accessible. <br /> <br /> Staf£ has thought of Ways to present material to visually and hearing impaired. <br />Emergency Services <br /> <br /> Most public contact is at the homes of citizens that use this department service. <br /> Emergency shelters are accessible if designated areas are used, <br /> <br /> Staff is trained in dealing with visually and hearing impaired persons. <br /> <br />General Recommendation <br /> <br /> Periodically refresh employees in providing for the needs of impaired persons in <br /> the programs. <br /> <br /> All new or revised programs or activities should be strictly reviewed to ensure <br /> that accessibility to impaired persons is not infringed. <br /> <br /> Programs offered in unaccessible facilities or that may present problems to be <br /> visually or hearing impaired should be identified. Most programs can serve 'the <br /> impaired by taking the program to the home of the individual or other suitable <br /> location for the impaired individual. Those that are visually or hearing impaired <br /> can be served by a department if the prospective clients notify the department of <br /> any special needs. Contacts for deaf interpretors have .been made by each <br /> affected department. <br /> <br /> TRANSITION PLAN <br /> <br /> By October 17, 1984 specific organizations that cater to the needs of <br /> handicapped citiZens will be identified and included in the "recruitment source" of <br /> agencies contacted when vacancies occur. <br /> <br /> <br />
